ELIGI- Competition is open to all Arizona youth athletes who will not reach their

BILITY: 19th birthday on or before July 28, 2019. USATF membership is required.

To represent a club, that club must be a member in good standing of the

Arizona Association, USATF. Athlete and club membership is available

through the Arizona USA Track & Field office, usatfaz@cox.net 480-949-1991.

Membership and entry must be completed prior to the entry deadline.

 

NO ENTRIES WIIL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY OF THE MEET.

 

AGE Competition will be conducted in the following age groups:

GROUPS:

8 & Under born 2011 + 13-14 born 2005-2006

9-10 born 2009-2010 15-16 born 2003-2004

11-12 born 2007-2008 17-18 born 2001-2002

 

NOTE: Athletes who are still 18 years of age, through the final day of the

National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, July 28, 2019,

Shall be eligible to compete in the 17-18 division.

Athletes must be at least 7 years of age on December 31, of the current year to be allowed to compete in the National Junior Olympic Championships. However,

all 8 and under athlletes are allowed to compete at Association and Regional Championships.

 

 

PROOF All athletes must submit proof of age prior to entering the Championships.

OF AGE: Acceptable proof of age: copy of birth certificate, passport, drivers

license, certified baptismal record, U.S. Government identification.

No originals are to be submitted, only copies, which will not be returned.

 

J.O. Every athlete must complete a 2019 USATF Junior Olympic Participant

Waiver: Waiver & Release Form, when registering on Athletic.net.

ENTRY Entry fees are $4.00 per individual event. $16.00 per relay team.

DEADLINE:

ALL ENTRIES WILL BE DONE ON-LINE, www.athletic.net, ALONG WITH PAYMENT

OF ENTRY FEES. PLEASE SUBMIT THE ATHLETES BEST 2019 MARKS.

THE ENTRY DEADLINE IS Wednesday JUNE 12, 2019 3:00 P.M., Mountain Standard TIME.

AWARDS: Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, ribbons 4th,5th, and 6th place, in all age groups.

 

EVENT LIMITATIONS: Limit 3 events for 8 & under, 9-10, and 11-12, 4 events for all other age groups. Relay team members must wear a top, and shorts of the same color.

 

FACILITIES: 9 lane all-weather track, 1/4" or less spikes. Long Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, and Javelin areas are all weather. Shot Put and Discus areas are concrete.

 

TIMING: Lynx timing, with hand timing back up.

 

RULES OF COMPETITION: The current USA Track & Field youth athletics rules shall govern.

 

RUNNING EVENTS: All events will be run as scheduled, on the enclosed order of events.

Those events where the number of entries do not require preliminary heats, will be run as finals in the preliminary heat time slot. The meet director reserves the right to reseed heats if excessive scratches are noted by the clerk of the course.

 

FIELD EVENTS: All contestants will be given three preliminary attempts in each field event, except the High Jump and Pole Vault. The athletes attaining the best nine marks will advance to the finals, including ties, for 3 more attempts. Preliminary marks will be counted in determining final placement.

 

IMPLEMENTS/TRACK MASTER: Check in will be one hour before the start of the meet. Competitors may bring their own implements or use those provided. Once an implement is certified for competition and used for such, it becomes meet property until the completion of competition excluding javelins and vaulting poles, these remain private property.

 

CONDUCT: Coaches, team leaders, and parents are responsible for the conduct of all their athletes. Failure to maintain proper control and to display good sportsmanship could result in disqualification from the meet.

 

STARTING BLOCKS: Must be used for all running events of 400 meters or less, including the lead off leg of the 4X100 and 4X400 relays, for age groups, 15-16, 17-18. Only starting blocks supplied or approved by meet management will be allowed.

 

WARMUP: Once the meet begins no warm up will be allowed on the track or infield. Non competing athletes and coaches will not be allowed on the field, except in an emergency.

 

CHECK-IN: Two calls will be given for each event. Track athletes should report directly to the clerk of the course. Field event athletes should report to the official in charge of their event. Athletes must report ready to compete. In the event an athlete is competing in a running event and field event underway at the same time, he should report to the official in charge of the field event, ask permission to leave, and go to his running event. Once the running event is completed, he must report back to the field event within five minutes upon completion of his running event, to complete the field event.

 

PROTEST: Protests which develop during the meet must be made to the referee no later than 30 minutes after the results for the event have been posted or announced. Proper rule reference must be cited. All protests must be accompanied by a $50.00 cash fee, to be returned if the protest is upheld, forfeited if the protest is denied.

 

WAIVERS: Rule 306(d,e,f) With the approval of the Association, athletes who miss their association Championship because of extraordinary circumstances may be advanced to the regional meet so long as the advancement does not displace an athlete who competed in the association meet and does not exceed the associations allocation to the Regional meet.

 

REGIONAL INFORMATION: The Region 10 Junior Olympic Championships will be held at: Mesa Community College, Mesa, Arizona 85202. July 6 & 7, 2019.

 

The first 4 finishers in each event, each age group, at the Arizona Championships,

will be eligible to advance to the Regional meet. Contact the Arizona USATF Youth Chair, for additional information and schedule. Coachjamesaz@gmail.com

The Combined Events will be held Thursday July 4, and Friday July 5, 2019 The first 4 finishers in each event, each age group at the Arizona Championships will be eligible to advance to the Regional meet.

 

NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIPS: The National Junior Olympic Championships will be held in Sacramento, California, July 24-28, 2019. The first five finishers in each event, each age group, at the Regional meet will be eligible to advance to the National Championships.

 

The Combined Events will be held July 22 & 23, 2018. The first two finishers at the Regional meet will automatically be eligible to advance to the National Championships. A third may qualify by meeting the performance standard at the Regional meet.
