ELIGIBILITY:
Competition is open to all Arizona youth athletes who will not reach their 19th birthday on or before July 30, 2018, USATF membership is required.  To represent a club, that club must be a member in good standing of the Arizona Association, USATF.  Athlete and club membership information is available through the Arizona USATF office 480-949-1991. 

NOTE:

Athletes who are still 18 years of age, through the final day of the National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, July 30, 2017, shall Be eligible to compete in the 17-18 division.

PROOF OF AGE:
All athletes must submit proof of age prior to entering the Championships. Acceptable proof of age: copy of birth certificate, passport, drivers license, certified baptismal record, U.S. Government identification. No originals are to be submitted, only copies, which will not be returned.

J.O. WAIVER:
Every athlete must complete a “2018 USATF Junior Olympic Participant Waiver & Release Form”, when registering on Athletic.net.

 
ENTRY:     
All entries will be done on-line at Athletic.net,  paid on-line by credit card.The online registration deadline is noon Wednesday JUne 13th, 2018 (MST). 

ENTRY FEE:             
$4.00 per event, $16.00 per relay team.

ALL ENTRIES WILL BE DONE ONLINE
 
ENTRY LIMITS:
8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12 - three events including relays.
All other youth groups - four events including relays.
Relay team members must wear a top and shorts of the same color.    

FACILITIES:
Nine lane all-weather track. Runway and high jump area are all weather.
Shot Put and Discus are concrete. Spikes 1/4 pyramid or less will be allowed. No needles.
Tents and large umbrellas will not be allowed in the West stands.
Tents will be allowed only in the East stands and grassy areas around the track.

AWARDS:
Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd, ribbons 4th, 5th and 6th place, in all age groups.

RULES:
Current USATF rules will govern. Only competing athletes will be permitted on the track or infield area, except for medical emergencies.

PROTESTS:
Protests which develop during the meet must be made to the referee, not later than 30 minutes after the event results have been announced, or posted. Proper rule reference must be cited.  All protest must be accompanied by a $50.00 cash fee, to be returned if the protest is upheld, forfeited if protest is denied.

CHECK IN:
Two calls will be given for each event.  Track athletes should report directly to the clerk of the course. Field event athletes should report to the official in charge of their event. Athletes must report ready to compete.  In the event an athlete is competing in a running event and field event underway at the same time, he should report to the official in charge of the field event, ask permission to leave, and go to his running event.  Once the running event is completed, he must report back to the field event within five minutes upon completion of his running event, to complete the field event.

FIELD EVENTS:
All contestants will be given three preliminary attempts in each field event, except the High Jump and Pole Vault.  The athletes attaining the best nine marks will advance to the finals, including ties, for 3 more attempts. Preliminary marks will be counted in determining final placement.

RUNNING EVENTS:
All events will be run as scheduled, on the enclosed order of events. Those events where the number of entries do not require preliminary heats, will be run as finals in the preliminary heat time slot. The meet director reserves the right to reseed heats if excessive scratches are noted by the clerk of the course.
 
IMPLEMENTS/TRACK MASTER:
Check in will be one hour before the start of the meet.  Competitors may bring their own implements or use those provided.  Once an implement is certified for competition and used for such, it becomes meet property until the completion of competition excluding javelins and vaulting poles, these remain private property.
 
CONDUCT:
Coaches, team leaders, and parents are responsible for the conduct of all their athletes. Failure to maintain proper control and to display good sportsmanship could result in disqualification from the meet.

STARTING BLOCKS:
Must be used for all running events of 400 meters or less, including the lead-off leag of the  4x100 and 4x400 for  age groups,15-16 and 17-18 Boys & Girls. Only starting blocks supplied by meet management will be allowed.
 
WARM-UP:
Once the meet begins no warm up will be allowed on the track or infield.  Non competing athletes and coaches will not be allowed
on the field, except in an emergency.

FAT TIMING (LYNX) timing, with hand timing backup.

REGIONAL INFORMATION:  
The Region 10 Junior Olympic Championships will be held July 5th  thru July 8th at Cherokee Trail High School, Aurora, Colorado.

The first 4 finishers in each event, each age group, at the Arizona Championships, will be eligible to advance to the Regional meet.  Contact the Arizona USATF office, for additional information and schedule. usatfaz.cox.net
 
ONLY THE FIRST FOUR FINISHERS CAN ADVANCE, THERE ARE NO MOVE UP’S. 
  
The Combined Events will be held Thursday July 5, and Friday July 6, 2018.  The first 4 finishers in each event, each age group at the Arizona Championships will be eligible to advance to the Regional meet. 


NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION:  
The National Junior Olympic Championships will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina. July 25-29, 2018. The first five finishers in each event, each age group, at the Regional meet will be eligible to advance to the National Championships.
 
The Combined Events will be held July 23 & 24, 2018.  The first two finishers at the Regional meet will automatically be eligible to advance to the National Championships. A third may qualify by meeting the performance standard at the Regional meet.
 
ENTRY INFORMATION FOR THE NATIONAL MEET WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE ARIZONA CHAMPIONSHIPS.
